To begin my design process, I first looked at the current Album cover for 'Ocean Bed' by King Krule. Since I am already an avid fan of his, I feel as if I had a solid understanding of the graphic styles that he tends to include in his visual media. I created a reference board for my sketches as well.
I then moved into the early sketching phase, focusing on an unpolished art style that would mimic the garage-band recording style that King Krule's music has. Red and blue were natural choices as his music juxtaposes two distinct music genres, as well as a darker tone.
Near-finished design sketches. In the first design, I leaned further into an illustrative style that encapsulated the emotional lyrics of the track. The second direction highlights its darker and more grandiose nature.
